What it’s like to work at BioStrata
We realise that making your next career move is a tough decision. How can you find an organisation that fits with your values, puts its people first, will support your development, and will make sure that you are rewarded for all your hard work?
With such questions in mind, we hope that the information below will help to give you a flavour of what it is like to be a part of the BioStrata team.
Everyone at BioStrata is passionate about making a difference through our mission and actions.
Firstly, our services connect scientists and other life science professionals with the tools, support and knowledge they need to drive scientific progress, improve healthcare and generally make the world a better place. Secondly, we’re in this business to do world-class work that we can be proud of (not just to through the motions). Finally, we want to feel fulfilled by our work, get better at what we do and enjoy hanging out with each other.
BioStrata as a company is really the sum of its people: our values, passions and work-ethic. To help ensure our core values drive every action, decision and behaviour, we’ve codified them into seven key statements: Do the Right Thing, Think Team First, Be an Analytical Thinker, Do a Ridiculously Good Job, Live to Learn, Be a Modest Expert, and Get Stuff Done.
If these values resonate with you then it is likely you would enjoy working at BioStrata (safe in the knowledge that your team mates have your back, share your passions and will work as diligently as you).
What We Do
We deliver integrated marketing and PR programmes to life science clients that get results. Our account teams work with our clients to set the their marketing and communications strategy and then collaborate with our writing, design and development teams to execute word-class programmes across a variety of tactics and channels.
Most of our clients go on to work with us for many years (in some cases, take us with them if they move to a new company). We can’t think of many better ways for them to show us how much they value our support.
How We Work
Our BioStrata Operating System is the framework that allows us to devote our energy, passion and knowledge to the “thinking work” (which also tends to be the most enjoyable).
At the same time, we are transparent and honest, sharing information across the team. This ensures that everyone is in the loop about where we are, where we are heading and how we plan to get there. We hold regular weekly meetings where every team member is encouraged and empowered to help solve our common challenges and improve the way we collaborate together to get the best results.
We think you’ll be surprised (and genuinely delighted) at how this approach really does create a dynamic, enjoyable, rewarding environment, where people actually enjoy going to meetings, excelling in their work and hanging out with each other (either at our office pool table, or via gif competitions on Skype!).
“Live to Learn” is one of BioStrata’s core values and something we believe is paramount to the success of our people and the team. Our proven talent development process includes access to a wide range of written, audio and video training materials. As part of this, we also have a dedicated training budget that team members can access to pay for training they wish to undertake.
Support and mentoring are also a major part of how we help team members reach their full potential, with everyone receiving regular coaching and feedback from across the team, provided in a safe, friendly environment where everyone is focused on helping each other be happy and successful. This includes scheduled one-to-one time with your manager monthly, quarterly and yearly, where you have the opportunity to discuss whatever is on your mind – a recent challenge, an upcoming opportunity or to help you define and achieve your personal vision for your career.
It’s important to us that our team are taken care of and rewarded. As part of this, we subscribe to Perkbox, which delivers hundreds of great benefits to our team, including access to an Employee Assistance Programme offering advice and support covering a range of emotional, legal and financial issues.
Our benefits package includes 25 days holiday per year as standard, plus additional days added over time the longer you stay with the team (other loyalty awards include spa days, festival tickets, tech gifts, holiday contributions and more). Did we mention that we also have an in-house yoga teacher that visits once per week, contribute to employee pensions above the government standard rate, have a generous bonus system and run a “Giving Back” programme that allocates each person paid time out of the office to volunteer, take part in community projects etc.? Well, we do all this too (and more besides, but we’ve run out of space!).
