Science Writer

We're looking for like-minded individuals to join our expanding team.

Our ambition over the coming years is to help bring 100 game-changing life science products to market to transform the world through the power of science. We’ll achieve this by working with some of the world’s most exciting companies, helping them to tell stories that educate, inform, entertain and inspire life science professionals across the globe in the pursuit of mutual growth and success.

We’re passionate about how science can improve the world around us. Ultimately, our work helps to ensure that companies, scientists and healthcare experts find and understand the technologies they need to drive discovery, cure disease, improve crop yields, and make the world a better place.

We’re looking for talented individuals to join our team.

About the Science Writer role at BioStrata

Are you a bright, creative writer who is passionate about telling scientific stories? If so, BioStrata could be the right place for you.

The role of Science Writer will be to operate within the agency, working across all accounts as required.

By joining our team, you’ll get to work on interesting topics with clients across the globe — from food fraud, to using AI to optimise protein folding, to cancer vaccines. And don’t even get us started on the technologies you’ll encounter. Essentially, if you love learning about anything and everything in the life science space, this is the job for you.

But what would your role actually involve? In short, your role would involve writing a mixture of technical content including whitepapers, eBooks and blog posts, as well as creative content (e.g. social media posts, web copy, email copy, infographics etc.).

This role would suit someone who loves immersing themselves in a topic and writing for most of their day (although there is typically time each week allocated to working and brainstorming with the client account teams as part of briefing sessions, and you’ll join and run SME interviews with clients). It would also appeal to someone who loves learning new things, craves variety and enjoys pushing themselves to develop outside of their comfort zone. At BioStrata there are opportunities to develop your role in the future, potentially as a content editor where you could lead and manage a team of writers, though the desire to do this is not a requirement.

Role requirements

Ideally, you would have:

  • 2+ years working in life science writing and content development in an agency or publishing setting
  • Experience and knowledge of the Pharma and Biotech, CRO and CMO sectors
  • Good understanding of analytical methods used across these sectors
  • The ability to write clearly and concisely
  • The skill to translate complex scientific ideas into compelling stories with clear narratives
  • A flair for creative writing (e.g. creating compelling, engaging social media posts)
  • Exceptional written and spoken English, including exceptional grammar
  • An eye for detail
  • A passion for learning
  • An interest in working within a commercial environment
  • A desire to be a strong team player

Ideally, you will also have:

  • A PhD in a science subject
  • Editing experience

This full-time role is perfect for someone who is looking to further develop within commercial scientific communications, has a passion for writing and wants to put their content skills and sector and scientific knowledge to use as a subject matter expert within our client-based account teams.
