Core role requirements

  • Serve as the senior strategic lead and trusted advisor for the agency's largest, most complex client accounts
  • Oversee and manage a team of Account Directors and Senior Account Managers, providing leadership, mentorship, and oversight
  • Ensure exceptional client service, account growth, and retention through proactive relationship management
  • Demonstrate strong commercial acumen, with responsibility for forecasting, resource planning, and financial management
  • Act as the primary escalation point for client and internal team issues, designing and overseeing mitigation strategies as needed

 

The full job specification

  • Work as a Group Account Director across a portfolio of clients, supported by a team of senior account managers and project administrators
  • Interpret the commercial challenges and marketing objectives of BioStrata’s clients to understand their business needs and define the scope, cost and implementation of BioStrata services
  • Work with a strategist to facilitate the delivery of strategic projects including customer, market and competitor research, development of brand and product value propositions, buyer personas and messaging to create the strategic foundation on which tactical communications plans are built
  • Manage your team to implement approved marketing strategies and plans, making tactical decisions within the framework of the approved strategy and suggesting  minor adjustments to the strategy based on day-to-day client feedback and results
  • Regularly spot check agency output to ensure it is of high quality and effectively meets or exceeds the client brief
  • Build strong commercial relationships with senior and mid level client contacts, direct projects and effectively communicate client expectations, plans, and results across the combined agency-client team.
  • Regularly survey your clients to measure client satisfaction via periodic check ins and quarterly and annual business reviews, and provide input into the optimisation of strategies and tactical plans, service scope, and budget deployment to deliver on client requirements  
  • Position yourself as the senior escalation point for the resolution of client issues and design mitigation strategies to overcome commercial, team or delivery challenges that may impact on client retention 
  • Maintain team revenue and resource capacity forecasts, manage team workload and deploy resources to meet the requirements of projects including flagging key issues, potential bottlenecks and additional resource requirements
  • Prioritise and deploy your input and time across your accounts and team based on client requirements, commercial value, and individual team member strengths and weaknesses
  • Line manage your direct reports, identifying skills capabilities and professional development opportunities to ensure your team can deliver high quality work across the agency service mix
  • Develop account growth plans which identify future revenue opportunities and include actions, resources and expertise that is required to win and onboard new projects
  • Work with the client services director to shape the client services team strategy, providing input on process and structural improvements
  • Contribute to new business development pitches and RFP processes, and manage the successful onboarding of new accounts

 

Your ideal background

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience working in an integrated marketing agency, with a minimum of 5 years recent agency experience in B2B.
  • Previous experience working with clients that operate globally, particularly Europe and North America
  • Good understanding of B2B marketing strategy including research, customer and competitor insight, audience profiling, messaging development, brand strategy and development of brand visual identities
  • Broad channel and tactical experience such as content marketing, paid media (trade press, social, search), email marketing, media relations/PR, SEO/PPC, account based marketing, lead nurturing and sales enablement
  • A proven track record of winning new business and account retention and development
  • Experience with reviewing project materials produced by the team (e.g. creative assets, white papers, blogs, press release, articles, media pitches, metrics reports etc.), providing insightful QA and QC input
  • Line management experience providing guidance and mentoring support to account managers and account executives to facilitate career development
  • Creative concepting and design/art working experience including developing brand visual identities, campaign creative platforms and multi-channel campaign assets
  • Website design and development project delivery experience
  • A positive, proactive attitude and someone who thrives on taking responsibility and accountability
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills and ability to manage accountabilities throughout the team for strong teamwork and the delivery of excellent, high-quality work
  • A scientific background (e.g. BSc or PhD in a science-related subject) is preferred but not essential
